Water is an essential element of nature because our entire existence depends on it. It is said that without food a man can live several days but without water he can live just a few days. But only pure water can be termed as life. The water filled with filth, dust and germs can be dangerous for human life. Water may be polluted in different ways. In rural areas the ponds, canals and rivers are polluted by indiscriminate throwing of waste materials and all the refuse. In urban areas the tap water, though carefully supplied by the government, can be polluted if there is any leakage in the supply system. Water can be purified by boiling it for twenty minutes. Purification tablets can be used.  Pure water is from all dangers and it is life bloom of our existence and good health. So, we all should drink pure water.

Water is a very important element of human environment. It is essential for all kinds of lives. Clean water is healthful but polluted water is very harmful. Water can be polluted in many ways. Farmers use chemical fertilizers and various insecticides in their fields. Some of these get mixed with water through rain and floods and pollute it. Mills and factories throw their waste products into rivers and canals and pollute water. From latrines and drains human-waste and filth fall into rivers and canals and pollute water. Again, motor launches, steamers and even sail boats pollute water by throwing oil, food-waste and human-waste into the rivers. By drinking this impure water many people often get sick and die. So, we should prevent water pollution for a healthier and happier life.

In our country water pollution is a major health hazard. Water is an important element of environment. Men cannot live without it. Pure water is essential for health. Water is polluted in various ways. Chemical fertilizers and insecticides are used in the fields by the farmers. Rain and floods wash away some of these chemicals and mix them with the water of rivers, canals and ponds. Besides these, mills and factories throw their waste into rivers and canals and pollute the water. Boats, steamers, launch throw oil, food and human waste the water of rivers and canals. Oil tenders often clean out their tanks at sea and power houses release hot water into river which kills flash and plants. A lot of latrines are built on the banks of rivers and canals. A number of  ‘kutcha’ drains run into rivers and canals. These drains carry human waste and filth and let them fall into the water. Polluted water causes incurable diseases to men. So, we should take proper steps to prevent water pollution.
